What is the S.W.A.N. Committee?

The Students Wandering About Nature (S.W.A.N.) committee is a committee within Kappa Alpha Omicron with 3 main goals. Introducing students to outdoor spaces, preparing students to lead outdoor experiences, and supporting students in exploring different ecosystems outdoors.

This committee is an option for any and all UNF students to join, support, and lead. KAO members will recieve priority registration for trips and discounts. If you have any questions feel free to email environment@unf.edu or n01543405@unf.edu

Introducing Students to Outdoor Spaces

As a Committee we will teach students about camping best practices, no matter how experienced you are with camping we will meet you where you are to guide you towards being a camping expert.

Preparing Students to Lead Outdoor Experiences

As students go on more and more trips we will be preparing them to lead their own trips, arming them with the necessary skills to plan, organize, lead, and succeed on their own.

Supporting Students in Outdoor Excursions

We want to allow students to plan their own trips to explore the amazing ecosystems of Florida. students can work with leadership to help plan their own trips and we will help them come to fruition the best we can.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be a camping clinic on February 17th from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. We will meet out front of the Osprey Commons near the Cafe.
